Jehan Numa Palace Hotel, heritage property in Bhopal has forayed in the Wildlife Tourism segment with the launch of Reni Pani Jungle Lodge. The Lodge which started operations earlier this year is situated near Reni Pani village close to Satpura National Park in Madhya Pradesh. Spread over 38 acres, the lodge comprises of 12 luxurious rooms, swimming pool and common areas like reception, lounge, dining hall and library. The rooms are divided in three categories: forest view, nallah view and hill view and each room has a built-up area of 450 sq metres.

According to Faiz Rashid, Manager and Owner, Reni Pani Lodge, the strategic location of Reni Pani Lodge between Bhopal and Pachmarhi (hill station) provides scope to offer packages which include Pachmarhi and combine stay at Jehan Numa with trips to Bhimbetka and Sanchi. The Lodge will be offering two plans from this tourist season (October 2010): Reni Pani and Reni Pani Jungle Plan. The first is priced at Rs 15,000 per night on double occupancy and includes accommodation and all meals and the second is priced at Rs 20,000 per night on double occupancy and includes accommodation, all meals and two safaris per day. The property will be targeting foreigners, high-end Indian travellers and those interested in wildlife, besides its current clientele from Jehan Numa.

Apart from safaris in the park, the Lodge is planning to include activities like mountain biking, horse riding, pottery studio etc. Talking about the aim and philosophy of the Lodge, Rashid said, “The idea is to offer back to nature experience and help conserve the areas surrounding Satpura National Park. The emphasis is on unwinding amidst nature and providing a memorable experience of viewing wildlife in its natural surroundings. We can organise bush dinner with lanterns and the barbeque each night is a different experience.”

Elaborating on the property’s marketing plans, Rashid added, “We are looking at working closely with the travel trade to market our property and have been organising FAM trips for agents to get a first hand experience of the property. The sales team of Jehan Numa Palace based in New Delhi, Mumbai and Bhopal are also marketing the Lodge and the response has been good so far. We will also participate in major trade fairs, international and domestic to promote our property. In the next two years we are looking at becoming an eco resort. “

“While one can’t boast about tiger sightings like other Parks in Madhya Pradesh (Kanha and Bandhvagarh) though there are 45 tigers, the charm of Satpura National Park is that it is picturesque and relatively untouched. The Park is surrounded by Denwa River and the star attractions (good sightings) are sloth bears, wild dogs and leopards. It is also the only Park in Madhya Pradesh where one can trek in certain areas,” stated Alger Fernandes, Naturalist at Reni Pani Lodge. Alger also informed that the Park has six elephants and the three hour elephant safari cost Rs 100 per person, which is fraction of the cost for the same at Kanha.
